Creating distinction in a crowded skin care market
For years Helix BioMedix has developed unique SmartPeptides for use by some of the top skin care brands across the globe. With these proven and proprietary active ingredients and their record of success, Helix BioMedix wanted to enter the U.S. market with its own skin care brand and products.
Amidst an over-saturated market, the challenge was to create distinction and identify a focused market segment for this new brand. Through analysis of customer behaviors and attitudes, as well as a review of the competitive landscape, OC identified four key sub-categories within the target market: beauty, clinical, pharmaceutical and trendy.
Recognizing that this new brand would resonate with consumers who cared about ingredients and scientific-based products, OC went to work to connect the companys distinction and purpose with its target audience. The brand came to life with a credible, modern-day apothecary feel, based on a strong foundation in clinically proven active ingredients.
Along with company naming, OC developed a logo, tagline, and packaging that delivered on the brand promise. The launch culminated with an e-commerce website that marked the official introduction of the first product and the opportunity to sell direct to consumers.
Together, OC and Apothederm created a new skin care brand and launched its first product in less than nine months.
